Missy enjoyed this gooey Gamman sandwich delight while waiting at the Distance Time Travel terminal. Buy your copy of the book today on Kindle.

Ingredients:

Ham Melt Sandwich:

·        2 slices of sourdough or rye bread

·        3 slices (average thickness) of ham

·        2 slices of cheese (gouda, Swiss, cheddar, and Havarti are good options)

·        1 – 2 tbsp Gamman dressing (recipe follows)

·        1 – 2 tbsp softened butter

Gamman Dressing (makes about 2/3 of a cup, which can be kept in a jar in the refrigerator for about a week). Combine the following ingredients in a bowl – mix until well blended. Transfer to a glass jar or cup:

·        ½ cup mayonnaise

·        1 tsp lemon juice

·        1 small pickle, finely diced

·        1 tbsp chili garlic sauce

·        1 tbsp creamy horseradish

·        1 large, minced garlic clove

·        1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

·        2 tsp dried chives

·        ¼ tsp paprika

·        Salt and pepper

Directions:

1)     Smear two pieces of bread with about 1 tbsp of Gamman Dressing.

2)     Place ham and cheese on one of the pieces of bread and close the sandwich with the other slice of bread with the dressed side touching the ham and cheese.

3)     Smear each side of the sandwich with softened butter.

4)     If you don’t have a sandwich press, place a pan on a stove burner on low heat and place sandwich in the pan. Place another pan on top of the sandwich to weigh it down.

5)     Heat on low for 5-7 minutes per side until cheese melts and ham warms through. You can check doneness of each halfway through recommended cooking time. Adjust heat so the bread lightly toasts until golden brown.

6)     Grab a handful of napkins because it can be messy – Enjoy!
