Show vs Tell? What's your take on this?

The current obsession with show over tell is beyond belief. We need a good blend of show AND tell to make a story interesting, impactful, and compelling. Most successful novelists and writers of past and present have a balance of both and some like Dan Brown, JK Rowling, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy and others tend to favor telling over showing. Thoughts?
